Everyone knows that most magic tricks are simply sleight-of-hand. I agree with the recommendation of the Tony Shiels book. There's a progression of difficulty in the material offered, and a wonderful amount of historical background information included.

The progressive nature of the books means that if a person loses interest after reading the first Volume, then the information they've had access to is limited. Of course there are always Mark Wilson's book and Harry Lorayne's "The Magic Book" but I would recommend these for all beginners because they give a mnd of many branches of magic, thereby allowing readers to try different areas to see what suits them.

Entity, if you read my post I do agree that Tarbell is the best place to start in magic, as well as Wilson. Trivia About Mind Magic: Fulves and Tarbell are both excellent. Books by Marc Lemezma. I just think that Corionda should lemezm the place to start in mentalism, as it is a complete course that is designed to be followed, to give a very good grounding in mentalism.
